Black Friday And Holiday Shopping For Content Creators

Hope yall are doing well. I’m unbelievable as always. It’s Black Friday and I wanted to share some stuff with you all that may actually be useful. I don’t typically shop on Black Friday at the “big box” stores like Best Buy or whatever for consumer tech. I usually just check out Amazon. It’s a lot of work, unfortunately. There’s so much “junk” out there that’s labeled as a good deal when most of the time it’s old tech or bad tech. I’m going to reshare some items for those of you that are looking to buy gear for a content creator or just for yourself as a content creator. Specifically, photo and video creators. With that said, I’ll mention that SOME of the items I tell you about will be affiliate items that I actually own and use regularly. As an affiliate, Amazon will give my small business a few cents if you decide to purchase through my links. If it’s a product that has an affiliate link, I’ll say so or mark as such just for your records. Thank you.

First up, a tool that can be used with your smartphone camera. I use this device to mount my smartphone to a tripod as well as a way to mount an additional light or mic to it. It’s the Studio Neat Gliff. This smartphone clip works well because of how strong the clamp is. You don’t worry about a spring wearing out as it holds your phone, this uses a ratchet to clamp down securely. And, it’s under $30 (affiliate). Quite personally, I like to thank my homie, Vinny, as he recommended this to me years ago.

Next, the GoPro world of cameras can be pretty expensive. I’ve been trying out a GoPro alternative the last couple of weeks. It’s the Dragon Touch Visio 3 4K and it’s under $50 (affiliate). Couple things on this camera to note. For the price, you won’t get the best looking 4k video. But you can shoot in 2.7K and it looks really good. Nor do you get image stabilization. So don’t go mounting it to your bicycle helmet for a mountain bike ride. A street ride would be ok, though. I do like that it has a nice touch screen interface and extra batteries for it are really inexpensive. This camera is good for setting up b-roll for another shot or just showing a wide field of view in a pinch. I dig it.

Next, get your favorite content creator or yourself a gift certificate to LensRentals. For the next couple of days in honor of Black Friday, LensRentals is offering 30% off on lens rentals and other photography gear for rent until December 2nd. Just go here and use code LRBF19. I rent from these folks regularly and they make it SUPER EASY for you. Lenses can be expensive, but renting isn’t. When I need to go cover a show such as Adobe Max or CES, I’ll rent a lens or two from LensRentals. No brainer.

Far as software, I’m an authorized Adobe affiliate. I use the Adobe Creative Cloud quite regularly for editing photos and videos. You can get started with Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 a month. But, There’s 40% off deal to get the FULL SUITE for $29.99 a month (affiliate). That ends on November 29th (today) so jump on it quickly.

Ok, before you start yelling at me that Adobe costs too much and shouldn’t charge a monthly subscription, you can look into another piece of software I use called Capture One. This is a VERY popular photo editing tool as well as a camera tethering tool. It’s packed with lots of tools and an intuitive interface. If you don’t want to pay the monthly $20 fee, you can also buy it outright. Capture One has a 30% off Black Friday deal which ends on December 2nd. Use code BLACK-FRIDAY-19.

Anyway, I hope this helps you out on the shopping. I appreciate you all checking out the affiliate links, too. Have a good holiday shopping time and also, feel free to watch this video I created. It still holds true. Take care, folks. #CreateAndDominate
